October brings a program that moves from the contemporary to the monumental. James Gaudi’s The Unseen Wire opens, followed by Smetana’s The Moldau , the beloved river portrait from Má vlast , and Howard Hanson’s compact, single-movement Symphony No. 5, a work of concentrated American lyricism. The evening culminates with the Brahms Violin Concerto, featuring guest soloist David Bowlin, a summit of the violin repertoire and a chance for our students to work alongside an artist of the first rank. Program James Gaudi: The Unseen Wire Smetana: The Moldau Hanson: Symphony No. 5, Op. 43 Brahms: Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 77 David Bowlin, violin (Professor of Violin at the Eastman School of Music) Johannes Müller Stosch, conductor.
