Help Long Beach Community Compost collect and process food scraps on Fridays. Choose one or more shifts; you do not need to volunteer all day. Morning: 7:30–10 AM at 2714 California Avenue, collecting, chopping, building and turning compost piles, and harvesting. Market shift: 11 AM–1 PM at the Downtown Long Beach Farmers Market on the North Promenade between 3rd and 5th Streets, collecting, chopping and loading the vehicle. Afternoon: 1–2 PM, transporting scraps back to the compost piles, unloading and adding material. End times may vary.
